Praying, Living, & Loving the Franciscan Way
St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Milwaukee, WI, the site of the Martin Luther King, Jr. tribute, has been renovated in the last several years. The splendor of the old church, always served by Franciscan Capuchin brothers and fathers and the site of their seminary many years ago is a joy to behold! The décor has numerous Franciscan flourishes from ceiling paintings on the life of St. Francis of Assisi, to the artful flowers in glass on windows. St. Elizabeth of Hungary, with her roses, patron of 3rd Order Franciscans, is just one of the Franciscan saints depicted in windows and statues. Check out this magnificent jewel of beauty, faith, and living history still today!!

The Black Catholic Committee of the Milwaukee Archdiocese created a memorable tribute with its 25th Annual prayer service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Celia Jackson, Director of the International/Intercultural Center of Alverno College, delivered a superb reflection on the theme from the last sermon by Dr. King: “Awake! Do Not be Deceived.” Franciscan sisters: Ann Kelley and Adele Thibaudeau were present, Adele having been in on the planning. A forty voice Gospel choir offered glorious and exuberant praise. Archbishop Listecki offered words of thanks Thank you all who made 2015 such a special year for all of us at the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi! Here's a look at some of our most memorable moments. Prayer, brunch, conversation ,and games made a delightful New Year's morning for Sisters and Associate who gathered at St.Ann's Intergenerational Day Care. The decorations were superb and food excellent! Thank you to the Sisters who planned the event!
