At the Lego/ building themed party, the troubadour room was decorated in bright colors, delicious food was prepared by sisters, and the guest of honor could not have looked happier. In lieu of gifts, Sr. requested donations be made to the new convent project, Upholding the Vision. A special thanks to all who helped made it such a great day!
A little winter weather can't break our spirits! Sr. Helene took advantage of the weekend snow by building a Garden Snowman, complete with flower pots for the hat and arms, and dandelions for the eyes and nose.
A group of sisters, OSF employees and staff members from the Groth Design Group and VJS Construction gathered for the beam signing on April 11. The event began with a prayer acknowledging the significance of this milestone in the new convent process, and then Associate Director Sylvia Anne Sheldon, OSF, blessed the beam with holy water.
On March 24th, Sisters and supporters marched in solidarity with Parkland Fla and other youth around the country in the March for Our Lives!
Sisters gathered to celebrate St. Joseph's Day with a decorated altar and meal. Traditionally observed on March 19th, St. Josephs Day is an tradition where Catholic New Orleanians construct elaborate altars in honor of this saint. The tradition, commemorating the relief St. Joseph provided during a famine in Sicily, began in the late 1800's when Sicilian immigrants settled in New Orleans.
To celebrate Pi Day (3.14), Sisters and Employees were welcomed to participate (as either a baker or taster) in our 2nd Annual PI Day Competition! Congratulations to Sr. Helene whose Derby Pie took 1st place! Kudos also go to Kristin for her 2nd place Turtle Pie and Chrissy for her Texas Road Debris pie that took 3rd place. We had such a great turnout of pies with 13 in all! They were all so delicious it was hard to choose 3 that were your favorite. Thanks to everyone who baked a pie and to everyone that came to taste and vote. Our taste buds are already looking forward to next year!
