Praying, Living, & Loving the Franciscan Way
Five sisters live in Tucson, Arizona: Sisters Jean Mariani, Jeanne Carrigan, Maxine Hart, Mary Senglaub and Rose Kordick. Four are retired and one is employed in a parish. They all continue their lives of prayer and service, each in a unique way. The sisters, all pictured among other Franciscans at the Sisters Council of Tucson, gathered to hear Sister Adele Thibaudeau, OSF. She offered a day of retreat for 55 sisters at Benedictine Convent. Adele spoke on “Creating a Bridge from the Year of Consecrated Life to the Year of Mercy”. She gave participants the opportunity to share their lives of prayer and service. Bishop Kicanas addressed the group and concluded the day with Mass. (Tucson sisters will each be featured in future days.) Thanksgiving, just a week before Advent begins is a fitting way to review the year, and express our gratitude for
so much we take for granted: peace, beauty, health, safety, friends, food, clothes, shelter. Please add to our list! What is it you are most thankful for this year? How can you express your thanks to those around you? Is there a way to continue to express it as a new year begins? (photos, thoughts by Sr.Adele Thibaudeau, OSF) Inspired by Sisters Jeanne d’Arc Omilan, Ann Kelley and Ancille Horgan, she began serving two years ago. She joined the sisters offering a week’s retreat to women. Now every Monday she offers an hour of prayer and Bible reading. She has learned much from the women of their deep faith and what it means to be incarcerated. She finds the women not claiming innocence but struggling to improve their lives. -photo, interview by Sr. Adele Thibaudeau, OSF 11-5-15 Sister Rose Marie has companioned California OSF Associates and Companions, sharing frequent meals, prayer, conversations and travel with them.
