Praying, Living, & Loving the Franciscan Way
“LARGEST TOUR EVER”
That is the way Sr. Rose Sevenich described a tour of the Motherhouse for one hundred twenty students and their teachers from St. Dominic School in Brookfield. This group of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders arrived at St. Francis Convent the afternoon of April 7th for an experience with eight group guides and four story tellers, all sisters and associates. Each group guide led fifteen students and their teacher to the heritage room, the chapel, Memory Lane and the mural outside of the administrative team offices. Story tellers were in each of the four places and pointed out the significance of each area. Four groups toured simultaneously, while the other four groups were in the Troubadour where Sr. Rose Sevenich and Jill Ardis engaged the students in learning more about St. Francis, a convent, a motherhouse, sisters, associates, and in particular our charism. The students who were in the Troubadour for the first half of the program then switched and took the tour, while the others then came to the Troubadour for input. Sr. Rose won acclaim from all who were assisting her, for sharing her tremendous organizational skills in planning and facilitating the “largest tour ever.” Associates and sisters who were engaged in the tour hope that some seeds were planted in the hearts of the students for understanding the call to religious life.

Sisters JoAnn and Margaret, along with Associate Cathy, and OSF Employee Jan participated in March for Climate Change.
On Saturday, April 29th, there was a big March in Washington DC for Climate Change. People who could not travel to D.C. Were encouraged to have their own March. Here in Milwaukee, the organizers had people gather at Escuela Verde School on Pierce St so time could be set aside for education on climate change & recycling. This took place from 10:00-1:00. At 1:00 the people gathered outdoors for the march, which went down the Hank Aaron Trails all the way to the Domes on 27th, then back around to Escuela Verde School. Organizing outdoors was done to begin the walk. Homemade signs were everywhere! |
