Praying, Living, & Loving the Franciscan Way
All Saints Church, formerly St. Agnes, on 25th and Capital Drive, was the site of a welcoming Gospel Mass, Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015. School Sister of Notre Dame, Sister Veronica (Vonnie) DeCleene invited all the sisters who had served in nearby parishes: Holy Angels, St. Leo, St. Anne’s, St. Agnes, St. Boniface. Four Racine Dominican Sisters, four Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi and some fifteen to eighteen School Sisters of Notre Dame attended. Sister Vonnie gave the Gospel reflection on consecrated life and service after an introduction by Fr. Robert Stiefvater. Stirring Gospel music with the theme of surrendering one’s life for God’s work clarified the meaning of consecrated life that includes all of God’s people. Franciscan sisters who taught at St. Agnes in attendance: Sisters Rita Haderer, Rose Martin Weldgen, Rose Sevenich, Adele Thibaudeau. Their community alone provided St. Agnes with just over 600 sisters from 1926 to 1998. The sisters renewed their vows and were blessed by the congregation. Former students came forward after Mass to express their gratitude.
