Praying, Living, & Loving the Franciscan Way
The Gutekunst Flute Ensemble will present ”Water, Water Everywhere” at a special, free concert for the public to benefit the new Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi Convent on Saturday, Jan. 26. The concert will be held at 2 p.m. at the Convent Chapel at 3221 South Lake Drive in St. Francis.
The 14-member ensemble will perform a variety of compositions inspired by water in all its forms with music from the Baroque Period to present day. These composers have written music about clouds, rain, snow, ice, lakes, rivers and oceans. The group was founded by Karen Gutekunst in 2002 as the Ladies of Flute. It adopted its current name after Ms. Gutekunst passed away in 2010. Members feel her name, which means “Good Art” in German, is a fitting tribute to the talented musician and friend who brought them together. Adding flutists over time, this local group performs at public and private venues throughout southeastern Wisconsin. While there is no fee to attend; a free-will offering is requested.
