Saturday, December 9, the Sisters will hold their first OSF Homemade Bakery and Craft Boutique from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Troubadour Room at the Motherhouse, 3221 S. Lake Drive, St. Francis. All items for sale are handmade by the sisters, from bakery, to cards and paintings, to knitted, sewn and embroidered pieces. While browsing, shoppers will have the opportunity to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate, and accompanying children can visit with St. Nicholas and have their pictures taken. Bakery items include the sisters’ Christmas cookies, their annual one-pound fruitcakes, and stolen. Among the craft items are knitted hats and mittens, scarves, embroidered pillowcases, kitchen towels, hand-woven baskets, acrylic and watercolor paintings, jewelry and more. Only checks and cash will be accepted. All proceeds will go to the sisters’ new convent project. The following day, December 10, the sisters will feature the “Stations of the Nativity” at the Advent Franciscan Pie and Prayer event. Come to participate in this prayerful, visual experience with the sisters at 1:30 in the Troubadour Room. Prayer booklets will be available and seasonal songs will be included in the service. Families are encouraged to attend, and then share coffee, hot chocolate and cookies at the conclusion of the event. To register, call 414-294-7306 or send an e-mail to [email protected]. Bricks from the deconstructed St. Mary’s Academy / Marian Center will be available for sale both days as well. Due to the construction, there will be signs on the property with directions for parking and reaching the Troubadour Room.
