Praying, Living, & Loving the Franciscan Way
We have had the pleasure of working with Sr. Durstyne Farnan, OP, for the last few years. A School Sister of St. Francis, Sr. Dusty has spent the last few years working with the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi on many projects, most pertaining to Justice, Peace, Integrity, & Creation. Many Blessings to Sr. Dusty as she embarks on a new chapter of her life of service! "I’m going to be the Dominican UN NGO Representative in New York. It is a three year term renewable. The Dominicans have ECOSOC status which gives them voice but not vote at the UN on certain documents that are being worked on - Women and Girls, Migration, and Climate Change. I will be the third UN representative that the Dominicans have had since they became an NGO at the UN. It is an honor and a privilege to serve the Dominican Family in the U.S. in this way. My predecessor, Sr. Margaret Mayce, OP an Amityville Dominican began reaching out in these past few years to the Dominican Sisters International to bring one Dominican Woman from each continent to participate in the Commission on the Status of Women. It has been a big success and this is one of the duties I will follow up on at the UN."
