Praying, Living, & Loving the Franciscan Way
August 13, 1015 St. Francis of Assisi parish was the site of the evening Mass at which 600 people gathered from all over the Milwaukee Archdiocese. Father Michael Bertram, Capuchin termed the evening one of a “celebration of power, the power of faith in Jesus Christ. Archbishop Listecki continued the theme telling the people they were light and salt for the world and empowered to do good…”Our mission is for peace!” Mr. James T. Henry was recognized as the persistent person who invited the Archbishop to come and be a presence in the black community. Two car loads of Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi were present. One group stayed to walk the 5 blocks with lighted candles to the Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial statue where the neighborhood was blessed. The beautiful, warm summer evening and the wonderful combined choirs add to the memory of this special event. We invite you, our readers, to join us in continued prayer for peace and safety in our cities.
