Praying, Living, & Loving the Franciscan Way
Playground Progress: St. Ann's Intergenerational Bucyrus Campus - North Side, Milwaukee, WI8/25/2015 The new St. Ann’s at 24th and North Avenue will have its GRAND OPENING: Sept. 15, from 10am onward with speeches and dignitaries visiting. Plan to spend the day-or part of it, touring, meeting people and celebrating this imaginative place of service and Franciscan care. It will include day care of people of all ages and abilities; a center for those with dementia; clinics: both medical and dental; after school programs; art and music therapies; playgrounds; fruit trees; a bandshell; respite care ; swimming lessons and more. The pictures here show the progress of the moment. A crew of both volunteers and hired workers are putting the playgrounds in order. Unexpected rain caused a setback for a day but concrete is being poured today. Mud is deep but drying. Wood chips will cover the surface for protection. A quick walk through the building gave us just a peek of the brilliant central skylight over the park and the African themed designs by professional artists. Beauty and care will heal both body and spirit as community is built in the Franciscan and African American traditions together! All are welcome! See www.stanncenter.org
